The Laurel School is seeking a World Languages teacher to bring one language to life for our K–5 students. Whether your background is in Spanish, Mandarin, French, Arabic, Japanese, Zulu, Italian, or another language entirely, we want to hear from you. This is a part-time role, one day per week beginning at 2:15 PM, designed for someone who genuinely loves their language and wants to share it with curious young learners.

At Laurel, world languages is not about drills and worksheets. It is about conversation, story, song, and the slow, joyful realization that the world is much larger than the block you grew up on. Our students are growing up with a real sense of global curiosity. You will be part of building that. We are a small school by design, K–5, and our students will come to know you as someone who opened a door for them.

Responsibilities include:

• Teach conversational language in a joyful, participatory way appropriate for K–5 learners
• Build lessons around cultural appreciation, global awareness, and real communication
• Adapt instruction across a wide developmental range, from kindergarteners to fifth graders
• Create a classroom atmosphere where attempting the language is celebrated, not corrected to shame
• Communicate warmly with lead teachers and school leadership about student engagement and progress
• Contribute to schoolwide events and community moments as your schedule allows

Qualifications:

• Fluency or native proficiency in the language you will teach, or formal training in language instruction
• Warmth, patience, and a genuine love of sharing language and culture with young people
• No specific language is required. Candidates with any language background are encouraged to apply.

The Laurel School is looking for a Music teacher who believes that every child is a musician, whether or not they know it yet. This is a part-time position, one day per week beginning at 2:15 PM, for someone who can bring music appreciation, basic theory, singing, and age-appropriate instruments to K–5 students in a way that feels alive and participatory.

We are not looking for a performance-focused program built around a single showcase. We want students to develop a real relationship with music, to listen with intention, to create without fear, and to discover what moves them. Our school is small and purposeful, founded by educators who believe children deserve depth, not just exposure. If you bring that same belief to music, this role is yours to shape.

Responsibilities include:

• Teach music appreciation, basic music theory, singing, and age-appropriate instruments across K–5
• Build listening skills and musical vocabulary in ways that are genuinely accessible to young children
• Lead participatory, joyful music experiences where every student is active, not just an audience
• Connect musical concepts to cultural contexts and the broader human experience
• Differentiate instruction to serve the full developmental range from kindergarten through fifth grade
• Communicate warmly with classroom teachers and school leadership about student engagement

Qualifications:

• Background in music education, music performance, or a closely related field
• Ability to play at least one instrument and lead group singing with confidence
• Warm, patient, and energized by working with young learners
